Dr. Gaylan Dascanio, MD
Dr. Gaylan Dascanio grew up in a small town near Santa Barbara, California. She attended Stanford University for her undergraduate education and received her MD degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Afterwards, she moved to Dallas, Texas and completed her Pediatric residency through UT Southwestern at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. During residency, she was proud to have received the “White Hat Award” from the Pediatric Society of Greater Dallas – an honor voted on by her colleagues to recognize the Pediatrician to whom they would take their own children.
Dr. Dascanio is excited to now operate her own general pediatric practice, which she established with the partnership of her colleague and mentor, Dr. Jack Seidel. Dr. Seidel has served the pediatric population of Dallas for over 30 years. She believes the best part of Pediatrics is the process of developing long-lasting relationships with families. She considers it a joy to celebrate each child’s successes and a privilege to help children navigate challenges through every stage, from childhood into young adulthood.
Outside of work, Dr. Dascanio is passionate about dancing, cooking (and eating), gardening, swimming, and exploring new cultures. She met her husband, David, at Stanford, and they have been together ever since, even attending medical school and residency together (David is an Anesthesiologist). They have a young daughter and two dogs, Albus and Pig, who keep them quite busy and always entertained.
